Funds went toward the building of a new room for families in need

Domtar Corporation announced that leadership and employees from the company’s personal care products manufacturing facility in Greenville, NC, and its pulp manufacturing mill in Plymouth, NC, visited the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern, NC, on May 18 to present a check for a $25,000. The donation, made earlier this year, has already funded the building of a new room for families in need at the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern, NC. Domtar’s Greenville facility, which manufactures the Attends brand of adult incontinence products, employs nearly 400 people in the local community. Domtar’s pulp mill in Plymouth, which employs nearly 450 people in the local community, specializes in manufacturing the fluff pulp used in the production of baby diapers, as well as adult incontinence and feminine hygiene products. “Domtar is so grateful for the wonderful relationship that we’ve developed over the years with the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern, NC,” says Domtar corporate responsibility manager Heather Alverson Stowe. “Caring is one of Domtar’s core values, which is why we’re honored to support the Ronald McDonald House in its mission to provide comfort to families in need in the Greenville community.” Domtar Corporate, in conjunction with Domtar’s Plymouth and Greenville facilities, collaborated to fund the $25,000 donation that sponsored a new room at the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern, NC, which the House unveiled and opened on May 18. Over the last few years, Domtar has donated more than $55,000, volunteered employee time, and led annual fundraisers dedicated to funding the House. Domtar maintenance & engineering manager at Plymouth, Bill Ward, presented the check to Hannah Caton from Ronald McDonald House of Eastern, NC, and Grover Hardin, plant manager from Domtar’s personal care facility in Greenville, was on-site for the presentation. Other Domtar employees were also on-hand to tour the new room that the donation funded. “We are so thankful for Domtar’s relationship with our House,” says Caton, who leads development for the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern NC. “Since 2016, we have received more than $55,000 from Domtar and their employees in addition to their staff’s participation in fundraisers and other means of support. We are excited for their continued support and what this means to so many Ronald McDonald House families.”
